Welcome to my little Blog.
Okay, so you must be wondering who is this girl who's Changing the World with a Smile? Well, let me introduce myself. I'm Lacy and I foremost believe that each and everyone of us can do good in the world if we are willing to do so. I faced this challenge when I began college. By being a Bonner Leader I have renewed by passion for community service and I am proud of my accomplishments through my work as a student mentor back home in my community and as a counselor at a camp for children with terminal illnesses The Center for Courageous Kids.
So you may still be wondering.. but why a Smile? Perhaps it should have been "changing the world with a helping hand," or even "changing the world with passion?" Personally, I believe that smiles are contagious. As a camp counselor, I often find myself smiling simply because of the children that I work with. As a mentor, I smile because I see teenagers devoting time out of their schedule to study and become better students and individuals through academic competition. My volunteer work is not just a passion, but a way of life!
I wear many "hats" each day... Student, Daughter, Assistant Coach, Sister and even Part-time Crocheter. I never miss an opportunity to learn, share, travel or even teach those around me. I believe that positive thinking is realistic and that each of us have a choice in whether we allow our circumstances to rule in our lives. I believe that I am blessed in the opportunity to Live.
I plan to treat this blog as a source of Documentation about my not so wild but nonetheless enjoyable and fun college years. Since I am so horrible about journals and writing in diaries, I feel that this blog will be a better fit for me. One day I hope to share this blog with my own children as a way to show them what my life was like in this time of my Life. I hope that you enjoy my journey through this chapter and that you enjoy my new creations and my stories about my service work and my experiences. Remember, you can Change the World With a Smile!!
